Camping Made Easy!

8 Simple Tips That Can Change Your Camping Experience

In an environment of peace and nature, the last thing you want is a hassle while camping.  Here are a few pointers for stress-free camping while you're staying on Lake Lewisville from Little Elm, The Colony, Frisco, or maybe even further out:

  • Plan ahead and keep a checklist logged as items pop in your head.
  • Make it easy on yourself and try to pack lightly. Can you live without it for one day?
  • Foods that do not have to be refrigerated or cooked might be best for your trip.
  • Sometimes dogs have trouble handling new environments. Bring items to soothe them and keep them busy.
  • Using headlights while parked at night can bother other campers and is not recommended.
  • Do not leave food open or out as it could attract animals or insects.
  • If you’ll be near the wooded areas, learn what common poisonous plants and insects look like.
  • Avoid odors and hazards by setting up tables, chairs, tents, and yourself away from the direction of smoke blowing from fires.

Basic Camping Checklist:

  • Pillows/blankets – ones that are easily washed
  • Towels/swim suits/swim shoes
  • Poles and fishing licenses
  • Pet gear – food, ball, ect
  • Folding chairs
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Firewood
  • Lighter
  • Flashlights/lanterns
  • Change of clothes
  • Travel sized soap/shampoo
  • Toothbrush/paste
  • Lots of drinking water

DUE TO THE NATURE OF EACH LOCATION, AMENITIES MAY VARY FROM SPOT TO SPOT

When you make a rental for a cabin, rv, tent camping, shelter, and bunkhouses you get two free car passes per spot as well you can launch a boat for free.
With rentals, if you exceed the two free car passes, every single car after that will have to pay $15 dollars and they will have to park in what is know now as Green Parking.
If you have a rental at Sam's Docks, are going to eat at Rockin S, or are going to DFW Surf, you have to park in what is known as Blue Parking.  If you have a picnic table you will also have to park in Blue Parking, and Marina guests will have to do the same.
The main parking lot by the boat ramp is now members only.  You will have to either have a annual pass or be a marina member to be able to park there.
The Green Parking lot is also for overflow when we fill up in the Members and Blue Parking lots.
All passes need to be visible in the car window and if no one has a pass in their car or if the pass is out of date, we will enforce towing on the vehicle at the customers expense.
