Simply put, the answer is No. Not for DFW. Last year’s flood did immense damage to Hidden Cove Park, the bulk of which has now been fully repaired. This April, while it admittedly has seen some rain, is no cause for panic just yet in our area. Remember, it’s typical for more rain to be seen this time of year, and what we are experiencing so far is not too uncommon.
The average annual rainfall in Dallas is 34.73 inches, but last year finished out with almost double that amount (62.61 inches). This set the record for the state’s “wettest” month, in addition to setting the record for the wettest May in Texas history (16.96 inches).
Here’s a snippet of the rainfall history according to the National Weather Service:
On average, the rainiest month is May with around 5.15 inches of rain, and October placed second with about 4.11.
The weather has definitely had an affect on Southern Texas, however, and we urge you to assist those in need if you are given the opportunity.
